SARC Architects’ renovation of Aalto Töölö (former Helsinki School of Economics) has been completed. The listed and well-known building has been a challenging and interesting project for both designers and builders. Woldemar Baeckman’s and Hugo Harmia’s original 1950’s architecture was preserved and restored but the building service technology, energy efficiency and accessibility were renewed according to modern standards. Successful restauration project was recognized by the authorities and nominated for the annually awarded Rakentamisen Ruusu prize.

Given by the Urban Environment committee and the permits sub-committee, The Rakentamisen Ruusu prize is a recognition for a work that has had an impact on both better environment and economically, socially, ecologically and culturally sustainable development. The awarded work is for its part a step forward regarding the objectives of building supervision and exemplary considering the work between the architects and worksite.
